  • Elective Modules
  • Elective Modules allow the student to choose a module based on interests or to explore other avenues of study. Most degree programs will have elective modules at some or all stages of the program.

  • Enrolment Status
  • The designation of a student as being enrolled full-time, part-time, or ACCS mode by CIT, which can affect a student's eligibility for financial assistance/aid

  • Educational Component
  • A self-contained and formally structured learning experience (such as: course unit, module, seminar, work placement).

  • External Examiner
  • An external examiner is an independent expert who is a member of
    the broader community of practice within the programme’s field of
    learning and whose accomplishments attest to his/her likelihood of
    having the authority necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
    In research degree programmes, the term ‘external examiner’ is
    used to refer to an ‘external assessor’. The functions of the research
    degree external examiner are different from those of the external
    examiner for other types of programmes.

  • ECTS Credits
  • The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) provides a framework to clarify the relationship between educational activity and credit value. It was developed to facilitate educational mobility for students and inter-institutional cooperation amongst higher education institutions within the European Union.

    All CIT modules must be assigned ECTS credits to be awarded after satisfactory completion of the module and attainment of the module’s learning outcomes.

  • Experiential Learning
  • The recognition of learning which has been gained through experiences in the workplace, in voluntary work or elsewhere, usually referred to as experiential learning. Experiential learning is the term used to describe informal and non formal learning.
