Systems/ Styles

There are many different types of systems or styles you can use for referencing. None are 'better' that the others, but which ever system you use, you must be consistent with it.

Check with your lecturer to see which type of style you should use. The style for a Masters thesis need not be the same as for an online guide such as this.

Some are quite similar to each other (e.g. Harvard and APA). For the purposes of this guide, we will concentrate on the Harvard System.
