MTU launches a new free Park and Ride service for the Bishopstown Campus

Munster Technological University has launched a new, free-of-charge, Park & Ride service for the Bishopstown Campus, beginning Monday 15th of January 2024.

Reserved car parking spaces will be available in The Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium, T12HNP4, where students and staff will be encouraged to park and get on a private coach operated by Jerry O’Brien coaches. This bus will bring students and staff directly to the MTU Bishopstown campus and drop off at the 219 bus stop on Rossa Avenue.

 

The bus timetable will be:

Greyhound track opening hours: Monday - Friday 7:30am – 6:30pm (You need to collect your car by 6:30pm)

  • 8am – 10am (every 15 mins): A bus will leave the track every 15 minutes.*
  • 10am – 4pm (every 30 mins): A bus will leave the track every 30 mins. – Leaving the dog track on the hour and 30 minutes past the hour. – The bus will leave MTU every 15 minutes past and 15 minutes to the hour from MTU (219 bus stop on Rossa Avenue).*
  • 4pm –6pm (every 15 mins): A bus will be leaving the Track and MTU every 15 minutes again.*

Where the bus stops are:

  • Car Park & Ride: Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium, Curraheen Rd, Bishopstown, Cork, T12HNP4. The designated spaces are immediately to the left on entering the carpark. The bus pick up point is the front of the stadium.
  • MTU Bus Stop: 219 bus stop on Rossa Avenue (This is also where the bus drops students and staff off)

 

How to use the service:

  • In the morning, drive to the Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium and park your car in one of the MTU Park & Ride spaces (on the left as you drive in).
  • Get on the bus and present your MTU Staff/Student ID.
  • Get off the bus at the MTU Bishopstown stop.
  • When going back to your car, get on the bus at the same MTU stop, present your Staff/Student ID and head back to the Greyhound Stadium to collect your car.
