SmartCard Support

CIT Smart Card is a new introduction to student/staff life in college. An identity card, but a lot more. The card has a Mifare contactless chip built into it, which the college hopes to develop to deliver services to its users.

Your card will provide you with access to the following:

  • Campus copiers (debit account)
  • Campus print services
  • Library access
  • Library book checkout
  • Access to laboratories (limited based on student/course requirements)
  • Food service/shop purchases (debit account)
  • Campus drink and snack vending machines (debit account)
  • Campus car parking facilities

The CIT Smart Card is your primary form of campus identification and all staff and students are expected to have a card. You can obtain your card from the Card Services Office, located in the Nexus Student Centre.

The Smart Card acts as a personal electronic purse in which you can deposit money for use at "Smart" locations. The preferred method of depositing money on your card is through the web value load portal, where money can be transferred from your bank account via your Laser or Credit Card onto your debit account. This portal can be accessed from the main student portal, myCIT.ieLocation Room, or by clicking here. Alternatively, you can visit the Card Services Office and deposit money to your card account in person. To get more information on the web value load service, click here.
