Careers Ambassadors
Would you like to become a Careers Ambassador to support the work of the Careers Service?
This is a volunteering opportunity open to students from second year and above.
Careers Ambassadors support a range of activities to promote the Careers Service including:
- Assist at employer talks, careers events and pop-up promotions (remotely and if possible, on campus).
- Increase student awareness of the Careers Service by talking with peers about events and activities.
- Provide feedback to the team on students' career related concerns.
- Attend regular planning and review meetings in Semester 1 and 2.
- Share insights with other Careers Ambassadors.
- Inform students about the Careers Service social media accounts and promote activities.
The benefits of becoming a Careers Ambassador:
- Gain volunteer work experience during your studies that will make your CV stand out.
- Develop skills sought by employers, such as communication, teamwork, public speaking, independent working, networking and flexibility.
- Connect with employers through promotion and participation in careers events.
- Take part in dedicated professional development sessions for Careers Ambassadors.
- Achieve a certificate of completion.
- Get a free Careers Ambassador hoodie and welcome package.
Is this for you?
- Are you in second year or above?
- Would you like to develop your communication skills and meet new people?
- Do you have enthusiasm for increasing student awareness of the Careers Service?
WHAT'S INVOLVED IN BEING A CAREERS AMBASSADOR?
- Start early to mid-October until the end of April.
- Receive relevant induction training as a volunteer and attend an introductory workshop for the programme.
- Commit to approx. 10 hours per semester as a Careers Ambassador (Flexible with your timetable).
- Fulfil the role during core semester weeks that will not impact on exam time.
