HEC Championship 2024

 

 

MTU Cork Campus Student GAA Club is thrilled to be hosting the upcoming LGFA HEC Championship at the MTU Stadium on 7th, 8th and 9th March.

This competition is the pinnacle of Higher Education Ladies Gaelic Football season with 7 divisions (22 teams) from across Ireland and the UK competing on campus over the 3 days.

The 8th March is also International Women's Day so we are delighted to be celebrating this aspect during the competition as well.

 

HEC Championship Draw 2024- 12th December 2023, MTU Bishopstown Campus

 

MTU Cork Campus has been announced as the host for the HEC O Connor Cup in 2024.

The draws for the competition took place today at MTU Bishopstown Campus with many exciting games to look forward to in the coming weeks as the best of the third level colleges battle for a coveted place in the semi-finals and finals in MTU Sports Stadium on the 7th, 8th & 9th March. While the O Connor Cup is the marque grade, there will be 7 Championship grades in competition involving, 65 teams representing 20 individual colleges, culminating in a festival of Ladies Gaelic football in Cork contending for outright victory.

Speaking at the draw, MTU Cork Campus GAA Development Officer Kevin O Callaghan said "On behalf of everyone involved in MTU Cork Campus Student GAA Club, I’d like to say how delighted we are to be hosting the 2024 HEC Championships. Ladies Gaelic Football continues to grow year on year and to be able to bring together the best third level players and teams in the country to showcase their talents in the incredible facilities at MTU Cork Campus is very exciting".

Daniel Caldwell, Chairperson of the HEC added "We are delighted this year that the HEC Championships will take place here in MTU Cork on the 7th, 8th and 9th March. International Women's Day will continue to feature strongly in our promotion of our championships over the three days, with a variety of finals and semi-finals being hosted depending on the level of competition. I'd like to wish all of the teams well in their competitions as they unfold over the coming weeks, and I look forward to welcoming you to MTU Cork Campus for the Captains Day and the championships". 

The draws are made so preparation now so teams will really start to ramp up preparations in advance of the first round games.

Request for programme information from all particpating teams

An email was sent from the HEC Secretary to all participating teams on Monday 12th February requesting team information for the programme. 

We ask that all relevent information be submitted by Friday 16th February at 5pm via the link below:

Captains Run

The HEC Captains Run will take place at 1pm on Thursday 29th February at MTU Cork Campus. 

Additional information will be circulated by the HEC Secretary closer to the date.
