Autumn 2021/2022 Module Reassessment Requirements

The approved module descriptor for a given module, available on, specifies its normal reassessment requirement. A given module has exactly ONE of the following reassessment requirements:

Repeat the Module:

  • The assessment of this module is inextricably linked to the delivery. Thus, the student must reattend the module in its entirety in order to be reassessed.

Coursework Only:

  • Whereby the module is reassessed solely on the basis of re-submitted coursework. There is no repeat written examination.

Repeat Examination:

  • In which case reassessment will consist of a repeat examination. It is possible that there will also be a requirement to be reassessed in a coursework element. The repeat examination is normally a closed book examination of two hours duration, held on-campus in an examination hall setting.

For the small number of modules for which the approved reassessment requirement is Repeat the Module, a repeat student is normally registered to repeat, attend and be reassessed in the module at the next available delivery period for the given programme.

Given the modifications to teaching, learning and assessment in this academic year, an alternative reassessment requirement which affords the student the opportunity to successfully complete the module by the end of this academic year may be proposed and designed by the lecturer, but only if deemed appropriate and aligned with the assessment approach taken for Semester 1/2. Such a reassessment requirement may consist of coursework, open book examination (LOBE/SOBE), or a combination of both.
