Summer Term 2018
ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED ON 1ST APRIL 2018 AS STUDENT APRIL FOOLS JOKE
Due to college having multiple closures this academic year from ‘Storm Ophelia’ and heavy snow falls caused by 'Beast from the East', plans are currently at an advanced stage to begin the new academic year from June immediately after the 2018 summer examinations.
Following feedback from both student and staff groups, the Institute is currently polling students on this initiative with staff members fully on board to provide this extra term throughout the summer.
A spokesperson for CIT stated that, “the Institute prides itself in its Student Partnership programmes and following recent academic committee meetings with student body representatives, we have agreed to exploratory investigations to bring forward and extend the 2018/2019 academic year.”
A representative from CIT Students’ Union stated, “we are delighted the college is working with us to look into having an extra compulsory term this summer to make up for any time lost during the storm and snow closures. Class reps have advised us that students are eager to continue their studies throughout the summer if necessary, regardless of any other plans.”
