Munster Technological University Cork Conferring Ceremonies

Event for the Class of 2020

 

The President of the University, Professor Maggie Cusack, is delighted to invite members of the Class of 2020 to attend a gathering, honouring the class of 2020 on:

 

Date:                    Saturday 28th May 2022

Venue:                 MTU Bishopston Campus

Time:                   11.00am (Guest arrival and assembly from 10.30 – 10.45am)

300 Graduates have indicated an intention to be in attendance, some of who will be bringing a guest/2 guests.

 

As Graduates have already been conferred, virtually in Autumn 2020, this event is to mark the achievements of the Class of 2020. There will be a number of speeches from the President, Heads of Faculty, and a Keynote speaker.

This will be followed by the taking of several general photographs of members of the ‘Class of 2020’ which will take place in the Sports Hall. Graduates do not have to wear a gown for this event. This will be followed by refreshments which will give graduates an opportunity to meet one another as well as staff and faculty.

 

Lafayette Photographers Cork, https://www.lafayette.ie/ will be available for those who may wish to take professional photographs, and Phelan Conan Gown Company https://www.phelanconan.com will also be available should you wish to collect a gown, on the day, for photographs.

 

All graduates wishing to hire a robe must pre-book robes with the official robe-makers, Phelan Conan Limited before Midnight Thursday 19th May 2022. Robes may be pre-booked online at www.phelanconan.com. The pre-paid hire fee is €35 or Pay on the day hire fee is €40. Due to the implementation of a personal 3D secure password during the credit card payment process on https://www.phelanconan.com  Phelan Conan Ltd staff are no longer able to take bookings over the phone. This has been created to protect your online payments and if you don’t already have a 3D secure password you can activate it by following the simple instructions during the booking process. If you experience any further problems with 3D secure process, please contact your bank.

 

Robes can be collected between 3pm – 6pm Friday 27th May or from 8am – 11am Saturday 28th May from the Sports Hall, MTU Cork. Cash will not be accepted. All gowns must be returned to Phelan Conan as soon as possible after the conclusion of the ceremony.

We would appreciate it if you could read the following IMPORTANT INFORMATION prior to the ceremonies in May 2022.

 

PHOTOGRAPHS

Lafayette Photographers will be located on campus, throughout the May Conferrrings 2022 to take professional individual and family portraits. Please visit their website www.lafayette.ie to pre-book now. Pre-booking is highly recommended for your photography session.

 

ROBES

All graduates must pre-book robes with the official robe-makers, Phelan Conan Limited before Tuesday 16^th May 2022. Robes may be pre-booked on line at www.phelanconan.com. The pre-paid hire fee is €35. Pay on the day hire fee is €40

For students graduating from Cork School of Music, robes can be collected from 8 am on Monday 23rd May at the 3^rd floor Boardroom in the Cork School of Music, Union Quay. Admittance Tickets can also be collected at this time (2 guests per graduate).

 

For students graduating from MTU Bishopstown, robes can be collected from the Sports Hall at the below times: 

 

• Monday 23^rd May 2.30pm ceremony collection from 11am on the day
• Monday 23^rd May 4.30pm ceremony collection from 2.30pm on the day

 

• Tuesday 24^th May 2.30pm ceremony collection from 11am on the day or Monday 23^rd May from 5pm to 7.30pm
• Tuesday 24^th May 5pm ceremony collection from 3pm on the day or Monday 23^rd May from 5pm to 7.30pm

 

• Wednesday 25^th May 9.30am ceremony from 8am on the day or Tuesday 24^th May 5.30pm to 8pm
• Wednesday 25^th May 11.30am ceremony from 10am on the day or Tuesday 24^th May 5.30pm to 8pm

Please note that cash will not be accepted. All gowns must be returned to Phelan Conan as soon as possible after the conclusion of the ceremony.

 

PLEASE NOTE: Gowns must be collected a minimum of one hour prior to the relevant conferring ceremony.  Please drop gown back after your conferring ceremonies and before departing the relevant campus

 

ADMITTANCE TICKETS

You may invite two guests to attend the ceremony and reception. You can collect these Admittance Tickets when collecting your Robe at the MTU Sports Hall. Unfortunately, due to limited capacity, requests for extra tickets will regrettably not be considered. 

 

GRADUATES

It is essential that you are robed and seated 20 minutes prior to your conferring ceremony.

 

LIVE VIDEO STREAM

Graduates and family members unable to attend the Conferring should note that there will be a live video stream of the Conferring and you will be advised, nearer the day, of a link to same.

Your Parchment

Parchments have been sent by registered post to all eligible graduates.  Any parchment undelivered will be returned to the Awards Office by An Post and reposted in due course.

Fees

Please note that all outstanding fees (and late penalties) must be paid in full to the Institute in order to be eligible to graduate.  While a fee remains unpaid it is not possible to have an award conferred by the University.  Queries regarding outstanding fees should be emailed to feesCork@mtu.ie stating your name and student number.  All outstanding fees must be paid in full before you will receive your parchment.
