Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI)

As with other aspects of your health, your sexual health is very important. An STI is an infection that is passed on through sexual contact with someone who is infected. Young people are at high risk of acquiring an STI. STIs can be prevented by using condoms every time you have sex. MTU Student Health Centre provides FREE condoms to all MTU students.

MTU Student Health Centre provides STI clinics for both symptomatic and asymptomatic (no symptoms) patients where you can be tested for common STIs including but not limited to; chlamydia, gonorrhoea, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, Syphilis and HIV. We have a dedicated team of Doctors and Nurses who are trained and experienced in managing and treating STIs as well as dealing with sexual health issues. Our team also provides cryotherapy within the STI clinic when needed. Our STI clinic has been approved by the local HSE STI/GUM clinic in the South Infirmary Hospital, Cork.
