MTU Cork Campus QQI Maths Programme

This programme is only applicable to QQI applicants who are hoping to undertake a full time undergraduate programme in the Faculty of Business and Humanities at MTU Cork Campus in September 2024.

The MTU Cork Campus QQI Maths Programme is aimed at prospective students who wish to apply for full time undergraduate programmes in the Faculty of Business and Humanities at MTU Cork Campus using their QQI points, but who do not hold a relevant qualification in maths.

The programme consists of an elementary mathematics course; classes as well as two assessments of the work covered.

The majority of full-time undergraduate Business and Humanities related programmes in MTU Cork Campus require mathematics as a minimum entry requirement for entry into year 1.

Check entry requirements of all programmes at www.cao.ie/qqi

Currently at MTU Cork Campus, if a prospective student does not meet the maths requirement for his/her programme of choice, any points accumulated through the QQI award cannot be used for entry into year 1 of a programme of study.

This programme is suitable for students who are:

  1. QQI students who do not have a Leaving Certificate or specific QQI Maths modules
  2. School leavers who failed ordinary or higher level leaving certificate maths
  3. School leavers who took foundation level maths in their Leaving Certificate exam or who hold a Leaving Certificate Applied.

Prospective students who do not need to take this programme are:

  1. Students who hold a QQI award that includes a maths module that satisfies the MTU Cork minimum maths requirement. If uncertain, check with your Further Education provider.
  2. Students who have passed Ordinary/Higher Level Maths in the Leaving Certificate Exam
